In this work, porous carbon fibers (PCFs) were successfully expanded intercalating KOH followed by heat treatment in the temperature range of 700-1000°C. The aim was to improve the CO2 adsorption capacity of the PCFs by increasing the porosity of PCFs. The textural properties of the PCFs were analyzed by using N2/77K and CO2/298K full isotherms at 1 atm. From the results, it was found that the activation temperature has a major influence on CO2 adsorption capacity and textural properties of PCFs. The specific surface area, total pore volume, and micropore volume of the PCFs increased after heat treatments. And, the CO2 adsorption capacity of PCFs was increased from 80 mg/g to 220 mg/g. |
