The application of large specific area-carbon fiber Si/CNFs to CO2 capture was evaluated experimentally using simulated flue gas via thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) at ambient pressure. The average adsorption capacity of CO2 on the parent materials, affects as a function of the weight percent of polyethyleneimine (PEI) or amine groups decorated on the surface of Si/CNFs. The properties of carbon material were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), XPS patterns and nitrogen adsorption/desorption isotherms. With a simulated flue gas (at 333 K) consisting of 15 vol% CO2 (partial pressure 0.15 MPa), and the balance N2, the CO2 capture efficiency during the adsorption breakthrough study was recorded. After adsorption, thermal regeneration that was applied at 373 K to recover the adsorbed gas. |
