A membrane contactor has been an effective technology for CO2 capture, because it can have high surface areas between CO2 containing gas and CO2 absorbing liquid. However, when CO2 absorbent solution wets and smears a membrane, high surface area is not effective anymore. To overcome this, membrane coating was applied to prevent membrane wetting, but it was not enough due to the strong basicity of the absorbing liquid. In this study, to minimize the effect of the absorbing liquid on membrane surface coating, various additives are applied to absorbing liquids. Monoethanolamine(MEA) was used as a base CO2 absorbing liquid. Potassium carbonate (K2CO3), 2-(1-piperazinyl)-ethylamine (PZEA), trisodium phosphate (TSP) and tetraethylenepentamine (TEPA) are used as additives. Effect of a CO2 absorbing liquid on the CO2 capture performance as well as CO2 capture performance were investigated. |
