Hemostats are widely applied for bleeding control. The present study focuses on the synthesis of fast swell porous absorbable gelatin-oxidized cellulose nanofibre (OCNF) composite hemostat system. Different concentrations of gelatin-OCNF composites were prepared via freeze drying method. The morphology, swelling behaviour, hemolytic ability, cell viability and cell proliferation of prepared composites was investigated. The results revealed that composites containing gelatin and oxidised cellulose in ratio 1:2 exhibited uniform porous structure, high swell, good haemolytic ability and more cell spreading, proliferation as compared to other concentrations. It is indicated that the gelatin-OCNF composites (1:2) system has a great potential to work as stable, lightweight and harmless hemostat system. |
