제목 Process design, techno-economic analysis, and life cycle assessment for the coproduction of fuel and chemicals: the effect of carbon efficiency to economics and environmental impact
초록 A novel process is developed to coproduct fuel and chemicals from lignocellulosic biomass, having a purpose for the enhancement of economics and carbon efficiency of biofuel production process. To maximize the carbon efficiency, major components of lignocellulosic biomass are converted into fuel and chemical. Cellulose is converted into butene oligomer that is biofuel. Hemicelluose and lignin are respectively converted into furfual and adipic acid. Furfural and adipic acid are valuable platform chemicals, so then their income can improve the process economics. We performed a case study for existence and nonexistence of lignin upgarding to identify the effect of carbon efficiency to process economics. In the results, the inclusion of lignin upgrading can improve the process economis. Life cycle assessment is performed to examine the environmental impacts, and the results shows that the nonexistence of lignin upgrading is the better than inclusion of it.
