A purge strategy is important to get stable performance and high fuel efficiency of polymer electroylte membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) in dead ended anode(DAE) system. Becuase this process removes the accumulated water and nitrogen at the anode. It is essential to optimize the purge strategy to ensure a high fuel utilization in PEMFC operation. In addition, the water management technique has to be studied in order to optimize purge periods. In this study, we applied hydrogen recirculation to water management. The influence of the purge condition on the operating parameters was investigated. The effect of purge conditions was analyzed by measuring anode pressure, supplied fuel flow rate and discharged water amount. The performance of fuel cell and fuel utilization efficiency for recycle flow rate and purge condition were compared. |
