Quantum dots (QDs) have recently emerged as next-generation display material with high color gamut and size-dependent color emission. However, commercial applications of QDs require dispersion of QDs in polymer matrix and higher stability in harsh environments such as heat, moisture and oxygen. In previous study, we designed polymeric microcapsule to prevent aggregation between QDs and protect them from high humidity environments. Although the gas barrier film is applied to prevent QD oxidation caused by oxygen and water vapor in the current commercial QDEF, QDs degradation was not completely protected upon long-term exposure. We applied QD microcapsule to the film and observe long-term stability under the elevated temperature conditions. Photoluminescence intensity of the film was monitored under the blue LED light. |
