Highly Electrocatalytic Ca-doped CuS Counter Electrodes to Improve the Performance of Quantum Dot Sensitized Solar Cells |

The present studyreports the incorporation of calcium (Ca) into the CuS counter electrodes (CEs)in order to modify the photovoltaic performance of quantum dot-sensitized solarcells (QDSSCs). For the Ca-doped CuS thin films, copper nitrate andthioacetamide were used as anionic and cationic precursors. Calcium nitratetetrahydrate was used as doping material. The changes observed in thediffraction patterns suggest that Ca dopant can introduce increased disorderinto CuS material structure. Electro chemical results displays that Ca-dopedCuS CEs have greater electrocatalytic activity and charge transport capacitythan bare CuS. Photovoltaic performance studies demonstrate that 20% Ca-dopedCuS CE based QDSSCs exhibit high power conversion efficiency (η) of 4.92% underillumination of one sun. |
