In this work, the influence of RF plasma treatment on the change of surface and structural characteristics of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) was studied in mechanical interfacial properties of the CNTs-reinforced polypropylene(PP) composites. The changes of surface properties and structures of the CNTs were characterized by Fourier-transform infrared spectrometer (FT-IR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) measurements. Also, the electrophoretic mobility of the CNTs was examined by ξ-potential analysis. The morphology of the composites was observed by transmission and scanning electron microscopy analyses. The mechanical interfacial properties of the composites were discussed in interlaminar shear strength (ILSS) and analytical expression for critical stress intensity factor (KIC). |
