Many researchers have studied about environment problems, a tritiated water that originated in the nuclear power plant. Since the chemical and physical properties of tritiated water is very comparable with that of normal water, it is difficult to separate the tritiated water from their isotopic mixture. Herein, we prepared the polymer including many carboxylic groups, and it was used as separating medium to improve energy efficiency of tritiated water separation process. Tritiated water has higher hydrogen bond potential than normal water, and it is possible interaction with functional groups such as carboxylic acid. Therefore, high separation efficiency can be obtained by applying medium had this property to separation process. Furthermore, separation ability was controlled by designing the monomer and physical structure of the polymer. We defined the theoretical equation of mechanism for the equilibrium constant, and then, we could quantify the separation ability of the mediums. |
