제목 | Performance Estimation of Electrochemical Cell in the Medicated Electrochemical Oxidation Process |
초록 | Mediated electrochemical oxidation (MEO) is a promising and innovative technology compared to most of the existing technologies for the degradation of POPs. It is a non-combustion process that operates at near ambient and at atmospheric pressure. A core component in MEO is the electrochemical cell, which produce the active oxidising agents. The destruction of POPs is conducted by the active oxidants. Reduced oxidants are regenerated in the cell as the active oxidants. In this study, performance estimation of monopolar electrochemical cell comprised plate electrode was conducted to compare with electrochemical cell comprised mesh electrode, by matching the conversion ratio of Ce(Ⅲ) to Ce(Ⅳ) and energy consumption. Also, performance of electrochemical cells assembled in series was estimated by matching the conversion ratio of Ce(Ⅲ) to Ce(Ⅳ) and energy consumption. Degradation of phenol was conducted MEO process using newly designed electrochemical cell by measuring the evolution of CO2 and redox potential in anolyte. |
