제목 Mesoporous Tungsten Oxide for an Anode Material of Aqueous Zn-ion Capacitors
초록 As the attention to green energy resources grows, the importance of a grid-scale energy storage system (ESS) has also increased. Since the ESS is stationary, its properties such as safety, durability and cost are more important than weight. With this regard, aqueous Zn-ion capacitors (ZICs) can be considered as a proper option owing to the high safety, abundance of Zn, stability of Zn-ions in water and high rate-capability. For ZICs, Zn metal is mostly used as the anode, however, it is suffering from corrosion of the surface and formation of dendrites.

In this study, we have prepared mesoporous tungsten oxide (m-WO3) to replace Zn metal anode and investigated its electrochemical behavior in aqueous Zn-ion system. Owing to its mesoporous structure, it takes advantages of i) larger reaction sites, ii) fast electrolyte penetration, and iii) short solid-diffusion length. Compared to bulk WO3, higher capacitance, better rate capability, and the difference of reaction mechanism were shown.
