제목 Biomimetic Polymeric Nanostructures: Enhanced Dry Adhesion, Mechanochromic Sensor, and Selective Wetting
초록 Complex yet highly ordered micro- and nanostructures, widely observed in nature, offer unique functionalities to the creatures which are crucial for survival and proliferation of the species. In the present study, we prepared various ordered nanostructures by combination of polymer-based materials and inorganic porous templates and their unique properties were investigated. First, we prepared tapered nanopillars with various cross-sections and studied their shape effect on adhesion strength. Our results confirmed that the shape of the nanopillars played a key role in mechanical response, thus, dry adhesion strength. Second, we created hierarchical polymer pillar arrays. Our results suggest that the combination of microposts and nanopillar arrays strongly prevented the droplet formation. Lastly, mechanochromic sensors based on photonic crystal structures that can change and record the reflective color depending on the external applied force are fabricated from inverse opals.
