Regioregular poly(3-alkylthophene)s (P3HT) have been applied as conducting polymer in various devices materials such as field-effect transistors (FETs), polymer light-emitting diodes (PLEDs), solar cells, and chemical sensors. We propose synthesis of regioregular alkyl substituted poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) instead of regioregular P3HT. To compare regioirregular and regioregular alkyl-PEDOT, we synthesized regioirregular polymer using FeCl3 as oxidant and synthesized regioregular polymer via the GRIM (Grignard metathesis) method using catalytic amounts of Ni(dppp)Cl2. And they are characterized by UV-vis, IR, XRD and 1H NMR spectroscopy. |
