Dependence of dielectric properties of 0.98BaTiO3-0.02(Ba0.5Ca0.5)SiO3 doped with Dy2O3 on preparation method of PVA binder solution |

Effects of the solvent composition of PVA binder on dielectric properties of 0.98BaTiO3-0.02(Ba0.5Ca0.5)SiO3 ceramics doped with x wt% Dy2O3 (0.0≤x≤0.3) were investigated. The specimens sintered at 1260℃ and/or 1320℃ for 1h showed, a single phase of a perovskite structure through the entire range of compositions. The sintered specimens showed the high relative densities above 90% and uniform grain morphologies were observed. Dieletric properties were affected by crystal structural characteristics and microstructural characteristics, which were confirmed by the X-ray Rietveld refinement analysis and SEM, respectively. Microstructural characteristics of the sintered specimens were dependent on the relative solvent ratio of ethyl alcohol to water of 10wt% PVA solution. Maximum dielectric constant (εr = 2723.3) at 1kHz was obtained for the sintered specimens with 0.1wt% Dy2O3 and prepared by the solvent composition (ethyl alcohol/water = 40/60 v/o) of 10wt% PVA solution. Moreover, the dependence of IR (insulation resistance) and dissipation factor on microstructural homogeneity were also discussed. |
