Poly(styrene/alpha-methyl styrene/acrylic acid)가 시드유화중합에 미치는 영향 |
초록 |
Poly(styrene/alpha-methylstyrene/acrylic acid) (SAA) contains both hydrophobic groups and a large number of carboxyl groups which can stabilize polymer particles electrosterically. A kinetic study of seeded emulsion polymerization of styrene in the presence of SAA was performed. The seeded emulsion polymerizations of styrene/polystyrene were carried using dilatometry to determine the effect of alkail-soluble resin (ASR) on the average number of free radicals per particle as a function of conversion. Data were obtained at 50oC for the steady-state rate of polymerization initiated with persulfate. The rate of polymerization of styrene decreased with increasing ASR concentration. This result can be explained by the hairy ASR layer adsorbed on the particle surface and be also ascribed to the decrease in radical entry into the electrosterically stabilized particle. The overall rates of seeded emulsion polymerizations are greatly affected by the presence of ASR. |
