As DNA engineering advances, there have been many reports regarding DNA incorporated with other functional materials. However, there are only a few inorganic materials incorporating DNA reported due to their lack of manipulability and predictability. To address the issue, we report a strategy for the synthesis of DNA-inorganic hybrids. In this study, we introduce the rolling circle amplification (RCA) technique with the supply of metal ions for in situ production of the DNA-metal hybrid structures in the amplification process. The features of the products could be easily controlled by changing types of metal ions. In particular, DNA-Mn particles can facilitate a wide range of functions as a cell tracking agent, a contrast agent, or supercapacitors. This study will shed light on materials made of organic-inorganic superstructures for biomedical and even electrochemical systems. |
