제목 Preparation and Characterization of Chitosan Hydrogel on PCL/PLGA mat for Potential Skin Bioengineering
초록 Chitosan is a widely used substance in biomedical studies for its biodegradability and anti-microbial properties. In this study, chitosan hydrogels were prepared with varying concentrations of 1% glutaraldehyde solution as crosslinking agent. Poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid), a highly biodegradable and biocompatible material, was combined with polycaprolactone to increase the mechanical strength of the polymer. Chitosan hydrogels were fabricated and combined with PCL/PLGA (80:20) electro-spun mat to create a bilayered structure for potential artificial skin application. The combined materials were fabricated in laboratory conditions and were characterized by its swelling studies, tensile strength, MTT assay and SEM visualization. Experimental results showed that the PCL/PLGA mat provided increased biocompatibility and mechanical strength to the bilayered structure. The chitosan-hydrogel layer can significantly provide solution to fluid loss issues for dermal replacement.
