Toluene is one of the most hazardous volatile organic compounds (VOCs) causing damage on the central nervous system. Catalytic oxidation of toluene was investigated on various catalysts. Among these catalysts, CeO2 supported Ru catalyst showed the high activity for oxidation of the toluene. In this study, we investigated the effect of calcination temperature and titration pH on the catalytic activity of Ru/CeO2. Prepared catalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET). The dispersion of ruthenium on the supports was evaluated by chemisorption methods of carbon monoxide. This work may suggest a promising strategy for developing Ru catalysts on various support for oxidation of diverse VOCs |
