제목 Synthesis, Liquid-Crystalline Behavior and Anisotropic Electro-optic Properties of Fluorene Oligomers
초록 A series of well-defined monodispersed fluorene oligomers up to heptamer were synthesized based on repetitive Suzuki and Yamamoto coupling reactions. Optical properties for these fluorine oligomers were characterized using UV/Vis absorption and photoluminescence spectroscopy both in solutions and films. The limiting conjugation length for the poly(9,9-bis(2-ethylhexyl)fluorine-2,7-diyl) was estimated to be 14 from absorption spectra of the oligomers. Glass transition and liquid crystalline behavior of the oligomers were also investigated under polarized optical microscope and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). In case of oligomers with 2-ethylhexyl as a branch, thermotropic nematic phase was observed starting from the tetramer. The monodomain glassy nematic thin films of the oligomers were prepared by employing rubbed alignment layers and the anisotropies of their electro-optic.properties were investigated as function of the chain length
