제목 Destruction of commercial pesticides by cerium(IV) mediated electrochemical oxidation process: A bench scale study
초록 The Mediated Electrochemical Oxidation(MEO) process with cerium(IV) and nitric acid as the oxidizing medium was employed for the destruction of various commercial pesticide formulations in continuous organic feeding mode. A near complete destruction was observed for all organics studied. The effects of various experimental conditions were evaluated with respect to mediator oxidation and pesticide mineralization. The duration of organic feeding was 6 hr in continuous feeding mode. Under the experimental conditions of 95℃ and 0.7M Ce(IV) in 3M nitric acid, nearly 98 - 99.5% destruction was achieved based on COD removal. The in situ regeneration of mediator ion by the electrochemical cell was found to be good during the organic destruction with in the ragne of experimental conditions studied. In the case of 6 hr continuous feeding the destruction attained the steady state and under this condition the destruction efficiency was calculated.
