제목 A dual-porous metal organic framework as a catalyst for the solventless cyclic carbonate synthesis from CO2 and epoxides
초록 Metal-organic frameworks constitute an emerging class of hybrid inorganic-organic porous materials, which have attracted considerable attention owing to a unique combination of properties, regular and accessible pores and functionality. The chemical fixation of carbon dioxide through cycloaddition reactions using various epoxides is a greener technique towards the synthesis of cyclic carbonates that avoids the use of toxic raw materials such as phosgene or isocyanate. In this work, a dual-porous metal organic framework [Al(OH)(SDC)] (CYCU-3) has been synthesized by using Al(III) ions and H2SDC (4,4’-stilbenedicarboxylic acid) under solvothermal conditions. The role of Al3+ (from CYCU-3) and Br- ion (from TBAB) for the epoxide activation and ring opening of epoxide was studied for the cycloaddition reaction of CO2 and propylene oxide under ambient conditions. The CYCU-3 was found catalytically efficient towards CO2-epoxide coupling under ambient reaction conditions with high selectivity towards the desired cyclic carbonates under solvent free conditions and it displayed good reusability. A plausible reaction mechanism was also proposed.
