Herein, we introduce a series of molecular simulations using DPD as a modeling method. DPD, which stands for Dissipative Particle Dynamics, is a powerful tool for simulation of mesoscopic system, ranging from few nanometers to several hundred nanometers scale. By implementing virtual surfactant solution which contains water and SDS, Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate, we can simulate the formation of micelles. SDS was chosen because it can be formulated easily in simulation program and can be used as a useful surfactant to disperse carbon nanotubes and graphite in a variety of solvents. Furthermore, we can observe the building of micelles frame by frame, which means that mechanisms and morphologies of self-assembly of surfactants can be found. |
