Highly efficient quantum dot-sensitized solar cells using copper-doped cadmium sulfide quantum dots |

In this work, we have probed the effect of Cu-doping in CdS quantum dots (QDs) to enhance the photovoltaic characteristics of the quantum dot-sensitized solar cells (QDSSCs). The Cu-doped CdS photoelectrodes were prepared by successive ionic layer adsorption and reaction (SILAR) method and the corresponding samples were prepared using CuS counter electrodes with a polysulfide electrolyte. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and open circuit voltage decay (OCVD) measurements shows that Cu-doping on photoanode can oppose the charge recombination at the photoanode/electrolyte interface and extend the electron lifetime. These results reveal that incorporation of copper metal in CdS QDs is a simple and effective method to improve the photovoltaic properties of QDSSCs. So here we report a high efficiency QDSSC based on Cu-CdS QDs using successive ionic layer absorption and reaction (SILAR) method. |
