The doped polypyrrole (PPy)/sulfonated poly(styrene-ethylene-butylene-styrene) SSEBS nanofiber composite web for polymer battery was prepared by the co-electrospinning of the composite solution consisting of a mixture of the doped PPy, SSEBS and carbon conductor in chroloform. The diameters of the electrospun nanofibers ranged from 200 to 900 nm with an average diameter of 500 nm. The doped PPy was prepared by a chemically oxidative polymerization using pyrrole as a monomer, dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid (DBSA) as both protonating agent and surfactant and ammonium peroxydisulfate (APS) aqueous solution as an initiator in chloroform. SSEBS was sulfonated by using chlorosulfonic acid (CSA) in a nitrogen atmosphere. The specific discharge capacity of co-electrospun PPy/SSEBS nanofiber composite web electrode was increased more than 20 % when compared with those of PANI/SSEBS. This is why SSEBS acts as a binder as well as a dopant. In addition, the effect of sulfonation leads to the increase of the electrochemically reactive site between PANI and SSEBS owing to the enhancement of miscibility, affinity and compatibility. |
