Synthesis and Characterization of Semi-conducting metal oxide using Amphiphilic Homopolymer as a template via Self-Emulsion Polymerization |

Amphiphilic systems have attracted intense research attention in recent decades because of their ability to form versatile superstructures via self-assembly also such systems can find a wide range of applications in nano- and biotechnology. A versatile and scalable self-emulsion polymerization (SEP) method without the use of any cross-linker, stabilizing agent, surfactant or polymeric emulsifier is described for the first time along with fundamental aspects of the mechanism of this polymerization. We have also demonstrated the in situ synthesis of a polymer/metal oxide nanocomposite synthesized for the first time by the polymer assisted growth mechanism utilizing the homopolymer as a template without using conventional amphiphilic block copolymers. The synthesis of such materials has potential application in catalysis, gas sensors, photovoltaics, solar cells and various other fields. The results of these highly interesting findings will be highlighted in the presentation. |
