제목 A catechol-based conductive binder for cathode current collector in seawater batteries
초록 A strongly adhesive and hydrophilic binder is designed by using polyethylene, catechol groups, and aromatic acrylate monomer for cathode current collector in seawater batteries. Battery performance was tested by measuring cycle stability and power density. The results show that synthesized conductive polymer binder reduces gap voltage up to ~25% and increases the power density up to ~141% after 30 cycles compared to PvdF, which is commonly used as a binder in the widespread battery system. This battery performance improvement is attributed to the polyethylene and aromatic acrylate groups, which contribute to the enhancement of hydrophilicity and electroconductivity, respectively. These results imply that catechol-based conductive polymer binder can be applied in seawater battery system.
