The Importance of Appropriate Synthesis Conditions for High-performance LTA Zeolite Membranes: The Effects of Water Exposure Time and Conditions of Seed Layer Deposition |

Linde type A (LTA) zeolites have a pore size of 0.41 × 0.41 nm2 suitable for dehydration of organic solvent. In this work, we synthesized LTA zeolite membranes by controlling the water immersion time to find effects of water exposure on LTA zeolite membranes. When LTA membranes were exposed to water for ~12 h, LTA membranes showed high H2O flux and separation factor. LTA zeolite membranes were damaged as the water immersion time increased. Finally, the separation performances of LTA membranes were sharply decreased after a critical immersion time (~100-200 h). Damage of LTA membranes during water exposure can identified by Fluorescence confocal optical microscopy (FCOM). And we investigated the effect of conditions of seed layer deposition. Appropriate waiting time of seed suspension and number of dip-coating were important for deposition of uniform seed layer. |
