Synthesis of Various Size Iodine-PEG capped Gold Nanoparticles for Computed Tomography Contrast Agent |

Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) are a fascinating material because of their controllable biointerfacial properties, low cytotoxicity, and high X-ray absorption. For these reasons, AuNPs have attracted scientists’ attention who developed AuNPs as a computed tomography (CT) contrast agent. In this study, we developed biocompatible AuNPs with various size for a CT contrast agent. Seed-mediated synthesis of AuNPs and the surface modification with PEG were used to produce stable AuNPs with increased CT detection sensitivity. The feasibility of biocompatible AuNPs as a CT contrast agent was tested In vitro using CT and it showed promising results as a CT contrast agent. |
