Interfacial Evaluation and Self-Sensing of Single Carbon Fiber/Acid-Treated CNT-Epoxy Composites using Electro-Micromechanical Technique |

Interfacial evaluation and self-sensing were investigated for the acid-treated CNT/epoxy composites with different aicds and dispersive solvents. Acid-treated CNT might increase the chemical interaction without sacrificing electrical properties. Acid-treated CNT exhibited better dispersion and interfacial properties due to introduced functional group on CNTs. Apparent modulus and electrical contact resistivity for CNT/epoxy composites were evaluated as functions of different acid treated method. Apparent modulus of acid-treated CNT/epoxy composites was higher than the untreated CNT/epoxy case. The higher CNT concentration, the higher apparent modulus due to better stress transfer.
