We have designed a flexible, integrated and self-powered electronic skin device where mineralized hydrogel, containing alginate-derived polymer dot (A-PD) based energy-storage unit was combined with a chitosan-derived n-type carbon dot-based solar cell for an energy-harvesting unit. The mineralized hydrogel, A-PD/poly(acrylic acid)/CaCO3/laponite with polyaniline electrodes, serves as a sensing layer and energy storage module. The bridge of electrons formed by sp2 carbon-rich A-PD between the ionized polymer and metal ion enhances the electrochemical performance and the efficiency of the self-powered device. The developed capacitive sensor can detect subtle pressure changes. The energy-autonomous sensing device can identify and monitor several human motions and generates distinct responses for handwriting characters constantly by harvesting light energy from open-air sunlight. |
