Surface Modification of Zirconium Oxide Filler for Fabricating 3D-Printed Composite Dental Resins |

3D-printing is emerging in Dentistry as a promising technique to fabricate dental restorative and other appliance structures. However, conventional 3D-printable dental resins have relatively weak mechanical strength, therefore combination of composite resins has been developed to obtain adequate mechanical strength. The inorganic fillers in dental composite resins can enhance their mechanical properties, reduce polymerization shrinkage and excellent aesthetic performance. However, Inorganic filler itself cannot chemically bond with the organic matrix directly. Therefore, to improve the mechanical properties and dispersion of composite resins, it is necessary to modification the inorganic surfaces of the fillers using coupling agents. In this study, surface modification of zirconium oxide was obtained from silanization of 3-Aminopropyltriethoxysilane, and then mixed with denture base resin to prepare denture base composites using 3D-printing. |
