The antibacterial effect of silver nanoparticle in the carboxymethyl cellulose hydrogel |

Silver nanoparticle (AgNPs) has been known to inhibitory and bacterial effect. In this study, the antibacterial effect of silver nanoparticle in the carboxymethyl cellulose was investigated. CMC-Na powder (20 wt%) was dissolved in deionized water, and then irradiated by a gamma-ray to make CMC hydrogel. The CMC hydrogel has been dipped into 0.01M AgNO3 solution for 1hr. After that, the swollen hydrogels were irradiated by gamma-ray to form AgNPs. In this experiment, the antibacterial activities of CMC-Na hydrogels stabilized Ag NPs against S.aureus ATCC 6538P and E.coli ATCC 25922 have been studied by two methods: in liquid as well as on solid growth media. The antibacterial tests indicated that the hydrogels containing Ag NPs have antivacterial activity. |
