Polyaniline-Coated Kenaf-Derived Highly Porous Nanostructured Carbons for Supercapacitor Applications |

Kenaf-derived porous carbon (PC) is considered to be a promising low-cost supporting material for application in energy storage devices. In our study, a facile approach was applied to prepare the porous structured PC/PANI with nanostructured PANI and high porous kenaf. Such porous structures of the PC provided a conductive network to enhance the charge transport and mass transfer in the electrochemical process. Firstly, we carbonized kenaf stem, NaOH retted kenaf, and enzyme retted kenaf to obtain the PC, and then PANI was synthesized by in-situ polymerizations with the existence of PC. The high porous structures of PC were confirmed by SEM images. The electrochemical properties of PC/PANI showed good electrochemical activity and also showed a higher specific capacitance value than PC material itself. |
