Electro-responsive fluids, called smart fluids, have been considered as the most feasible candidate for practical applications because of their rapid response, reversible transition, low power consumption, and simple mechanics. Although various kinds of materials have been adopted to the electro-responsive fluids, few researches have studied the dependence of electro-responsive activities on nanoparticle characteristics. To clarify the influence of the nanoparticle features on the electro-responsive performance, the geometrical, electrical, dielectric properties of the nanoparticles, such as a particle diameter, aspect ratio, shell structure, electrical conductivity, and dielectric constants, are adjusted. These studies provide a better understanding of the mechanism underlying electro-responsive fluids. |
