Calcium carbonate is one of more abundant minerals in both biological and geological spheres. Also, it is the major component of historic buildings made of limestone. Environmental changes could lead to dissolution of calcium carbonate that threatens mollusk shells, geological rocks, and historic buildings. In the present work, calcite crystals have been exposed to sodium fluoride aqueous solutions to study kinetics of the phase transformation. In addition, the effects of polymeric additives on the transformation were examined. |
