Porous materials have attracted great attention due to their unique architecture and benefits for practical use such as in gas capture, storage and separation, catalysts, drug delivery systems and chemical sensors. Especially, covalent organic polymers (COPs), a sub-class of porous materials, are more promising due to their structural diversity, physicochemical stability and high porosity. In the investigation described herein, we designed intrinsically porous diacetylene monomer which has tetrahedral organic molecule as core structure. Further, utilizing diacetylene template of self-assembled monomer chain, highly porous structured polymer is generated by facile photo-polymerizaion (UV 254 nm). The result of morphology and gas adsorption studies demonstrates porosity of obtained polymer. In addition to this, we confirmed potential for volatile organic compounds (VOCs) detection by observing solvatochromism of porous polydiacetylene. |
