Characteristics and Controlled Dissolution of Itraconazole Solid Dispersion |

We prepared nanoparticles containing insoluble itraconazole by the method of solid dispersions using spray dryer to improve solubility of itraconazole. We used kolidon VA64 , Eudragit S100 as a water soluble carrier for the solid dispersion, and SLS as a surfactant. Characterization of itraconazole solid dispersion was performed by scanning electron microscope (SEM), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), x-ray diffraction (XRD) and fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The results of SEM, DSC and XRD demonstrated that itraconazole is amorphous in solid dispersion. The in vitro test was implemented to confirm characteristic of dissolution of itraconazole solid dispersion in gastric juice (pH 1.2). This studies showed improvement of dissolution rate of itraconazole by water soluble polymer and spray drying. This research was supported by Polymer BIN Fusion Research Team. |
