We synthesized rod-coil hetero-arm star-block copolymers (A2B) composed of regioregular poly(3-dodecylthiophene) (P3DDT) and poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) via azide-alkyne click. First, the linking compound (LC) of 1, 3-diazido-2-propanol was synthesized from the reaction between 1, 3-dibromo-2-propanol and NaN3. Then, the azide groups were reacted with the alkynyl end group in P3DDT by click reaction. Due to using two equivalent P3DDT, the resulting structure was P3DDT-(LC)-P3DDT. Due to the hydroxyl group in the LC, it can be reacted with trans-cinnamic acids by the esterification. When the excess amount of the living PMMA anions was used, the double bond in trans-cinnamic acid was completely reacted with PMMA anions. We characterized the molecular structures by NMR, and investigated the photoluminescence of synthesized star-block copolymers with various coil lengths. |
