The lyotropic chromonic liquid crystal (LCLC) was used to fabricate more thin and flexible film coatable polarizer. In order to reduce the possible defects generated during the coating and drying process, the oriented proton exchanged Sunset Yellow FCF (abbreviated as PESY) film was stabilized by the photo-polymerization of PESY-water solution containing acrylic acid (AA). The phase behaviors of PESY solution were monitored using polarized optical microscope (POM) at the differential concentrations and temperatures. Based on the experimental results of two-dimensional (2D) wide angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD) and selected area electron diffraction (SAED), the PESY crystalline unit cell was identified to monoclinic structure.
