제목 A study of organic and Si contained contaminants removal from Nylon (81%)-Spndex(19%) fibers by plasma treatments
초록 Plasma treatment has been increasingly used for surface cleaning and polymerization in many industries. In this study, various plasma treatments are used to remove organic residuals, mainly silicone oil from nylon contained fabrics. The removed residuals from the fibers are characterized using scanning electron microscopy. EDX and XPS are also used for determination of the change in elements on the fiber surface. It is shown that lower energy plasma treatment with longer plasma operating time performs the best in removal of the residuals from the fibers. On the contrary, increasing the energy input which may enhance the ion damage yields high heat loads and significantly reduces mechanical properties of the fibers.
