Core-shell structured silica grafted 3,3,4,4,5,5,6,6,7,7,8,8,9,9,10,10,10-Heptadecafluorodecyl methacrylate(HDFDMA) nanocomposites(Silica-HDFDMA) were synthesized via thiol-lactam initiated radical polymerization by employing a grafting from protocol. Thiol functionalized HDFDMA were prepared by hydrolysis and condensation of 3-mercapropropyl-trimethoxysilane(MTS) in acidic condition. Subsequently, the surface initiated polymerization was accomplished by using two component initiating system comprising thiol functionalized Silica (Silica-SH) and butyrolactam(BL). The anchoring of Silica onto the surface of Silica-SH was ascertained by 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, 29Si-NMR, GPC and XPS analyses. |
