Palladium(II)-N-heterocyclic carbene (Pd-NHC) immobilized on γ-Alumina was prepared as a heterogeneous catalyst for Suzuki-Myaura reaction. Pd-NHC complex is a well-known catalyst for Suzuki-Myaura reaction due to its high activity and stability in aqueous conditions. γ-Alumina possesses surface hydrophilicity with large surface area, which is adequate as a water compatible heterogeneous catalyst. In this research, 1-(2,4,6-trimethylphenyl)-1H-imidazole and 1-(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)-1H-imidazole were synthesized as NHC precursors. The NHC complexes were prepared by using Pd(OAc)2, NHC precursors, and (3-iodopropyl)triethoxysilane,. Finally, Pd-NHC complexes were immobilized on γ-Alumina through the silane groups of Pd-NHC complexes. The prepared catalysts were characterized by XPS, ICP-AES, and SEM-EDS. The catalytic activities of γ-Alumina supported Pd-NHC catalysts were measured in various aqueous solvents and basic conditions. |
