Pohang Light Source and Synchrotron GIXS Analysis of Nanostructures inFunctional Polymer Systems |

The current status of the beamlines at Pohang Accelerator Laboratory (so-called Pohang Light Source: PLS) is reported. The PLS' future plans and perspectives to advance science and technology, in particular polymer science and technology, in Korea, are also presented. In addition, there are discussed a number of synchrotron grazing incidence X-ray scattering (GIXS) works conducted for various nanostructures (nanoscale multilayers, molecular fibers, nanopores, porous nanocylinders, gyroid, hexagonally perforated layer, etc.) fabricated with functional polymers and block copolymers and their orientations. The quantitative GIXS analyses provide all detailed structural information on the nanostructures, which can not easily be obtained by any other analytical techniques. These studies were supported by the KOSEF (National Research Lab Program and CIMS), by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (BK21 Program) and POSCO. |
