제목 Preparation and Characterization of PMMA/ZnO Nanocomposites via Surface Thiol-Lactam Initiated Radical Polymerization Technique
초록 In this study, we first report the chemical immobilization of poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) onto the surface of ZnO nanoparticles employing a facile thiol-lactam initiated radical-polymerization (TLIRP) by adopting grafting from protocol. This can be achieved through the modification of ZnO surface with 3-mercaptopropyl-trimethoxysilane (MPTMS) in one-step process to prepare thiol functionalized ZnO nanoparticles (ZnO-SH). Subsequently, surface initiated radical polymerization was accomplished by using two component initiating system comprising with ZnO-SH and butyrolactam (BL). The anchoring of PMMA onto the surface of ZnO nanoparticles was confirmed by FT-IR, XPS, EDX, TGA, TEM and SEM images. The nanocomposites showed superior thermal property than that of its parent polymer.
