Te nanoparticles decorated ZnO nanorod for high performance hydrogen sulfide gasdetection |

Due to the fascinating sensing performance, heterojunction -based gas sensors has gained elevating attention and gradually grow as a new promising generation of high performance gas sensors. However, it still remains a huge challenge to optimize and repeat the gas sensing performance due to the poor control on the element composition and distribution of heterostructure. In this paper, a nanorod n-ZnO decorated by Te composite structure were successfully synthesized by double hydrothermal steps for hydrogen sulfide detection at elevated temperature and the effect of compositions on the gas sensing performance were systematically studied. The ratio of ZnO to Te were well controlled by adjusting the amounts of Te in hydrothermal experiments, which offers a good opportunity to optimize the gas sensing performances. The composite sensornot only showedfar higherresponses (R/R0~70) compared with pureZnO nanorod (R/R0= 10) and Te signifying a synergetic effect but also reduced the optimum temperature of H2S gas sensing from over 300oC to 200oC. While the structure revealed superior sensing performance of good repeatability, stability, linearity, and gas selectivity at 200oC,the mechanism for the sensing functions is analyzed for further information. |
