제목 | Optically Anisotropic Topical Hemostatic Coacervate for Naked-Eye Identification of Blood Coagulation |
초록 | Uncontrolled bleeding is critical forcoagulopathy patients (e.g., diabetes, advanced cancer) in clinical andcivilian environments. Despite considerable efforts to develop hemostaticagents, there are limitations due to their low tissue adhesion or toxicity onthe blood circulation system. Also, none of the topical hemostatic agents capableof clearly identifying adequate hemostasis or rebleeding without any opticallabeling have been reported. Herein, we propose optically anisotropichemostatic coacervate for naked-eye clarification of bleeding and hemostasis. Thecoacervate are formed via nonionic self-coacervation between tannic acid, andcholesteryl liquid crystals.When coacervate is applied to the wound, a "polyphenol-blood barrier"is formed immediately, resulting in hemostasis, followed by intrinsic greenlight emission of the liquid crystal. Thus, theseoptically active hemostatic materials may help manage and prevent internalbleeding in a limited clinical environment. |
