O-carboxymethyl chitosan, a derivative of chitosan, was conjugated with a hydrophilic carboxymethyl group. Furfuyl O-carboxymethyl chitosan (F-CMC) was modified with furfuryl group. The structure of F-CMC was confirmed by FT-IR, 1H-NMR, and gel permeation chromatography (GPC). The F-CMC was cross-linked to encapsulation a protein, in presence of riboflavin under visible light irradiations. The cytotoxicity test using fibroblast NIH3T3 showed no toxicity of F-CMC. To demonstrate of its anti-adhesion effect, animal test was performed. In conclusion, visible-light curable chitosan is good material for preventing adhesion in the tendon. |
