A novel MOF/Cellulose acetate nanofiltration membranes for effective removal of microplastics with adsorbed contaminants from the textile wastewater |

In this study, MIL-100 (Fe) nanoparticles were incorporated into the cellulose acetate (CA) to fabricate nanofiltration (NF) membrane to remove hazardous contaminants from textile wastewater. The MOF contained composite membranes examined by FTIR, XRD, FESEM, EDX, and AFM. The increasing the pure water flux from 14.8 to 30.8 L/m2 h and decreasing the water contact angle from 64.7⁰ to 45.4⁰ of the composite membranes were deep-rooted that the MIL-100 (Fe) incorporation boosts the hydrophilicity and pore size improvement. The CA/MIL-100 (Fe) membranes showed a high rejection percentage of dyes, dyes adsorbed microplastics, salts, and dye/salt mixture with an exciting anti-fouling performance. It all confirms that incorporating MIL-100 (Fe) nanofiller into the CA matrix is credited for the excellent membrane performance for real-time textile wastewater. |
