The effect of operating conditions such as inlet concentration, velocity and bed height on the adsorption breakthrough curves in a fixed bed packed with regenerated ACs are experimentally and theoretically investigated. In this work, spent ACs discarded from the petrochemical plant was physico-chemically regenerated. Adsorption equilibrium isotherms for toluene obtained from the breakthrough curves are correlated by several well known isotherm models. A simple column model based on linear driving force approximation with a variable lumped resistance coefficient was introduced and the effects of several operating parameters on the model prediction were discussed. Moreover, thermal desorption behaviors were systematically investigated. This research was supported by the program for the Construction of EIP which was conducted KICOX and MKE. |
